How it all began
The first expression of Adirondack Women… Forever Wild is a small-batch T-shirt — wearable reminder of place, strength, and sisterhood.
Adirondack Women… Forever Wild™ began long before this website existed.
Years ago, a local Adirondack woman named Judy created a simple t-shirt for a women’s running group she belonged to — one that quietly captured something many women here felt but rarely saw reflected: strength without bravado, freedom without permission, and a deep, personal connection to wild places. The shirt resonated. It spread, wildly. And then, for a variety of reasons, it stopped.
But the feeling didn’t.
For many of us, Forever Wild isn’t a slogan — it’s a lived experience. It’s mornings on still water, the sound of a loon’s call, hands calloused from work and weather, sunsets, smell of pine trees, full moon nights, campfires, moments of solitude, and the steady knowing that wild places shape who we are.
This chapter of Adirondack Women… Forever Wild™ is a continuation — not a re-creation. It honors the spirit of that original shirt & wild women who born it, while allowing the idea to grow into something broader: a space for experiences, storytelling, creativity, and connection among women rooted in the Adirondacks and beyond.
I’m Sheila, an Adirondack woman, caretaker’s daughter, adventurer, Guide, and quiet steward of this next phase. My role isn’t to replace what came before, but to carry it forward — thoughtfully, respectfully, and in community.
This is a beginning. A small one.
And like the wild places that inspire it, it’s meant to grow slowly, intentionally, and together.

Adirondack Women… Forever Wild™ exists to honor women who are deeply connected to place — women shaped by wild landscapes, quiet strength, creativity, work, and care.
Our mission is to carry forward a legacy rooted in the Adirondacks while creating space for new stories to emerge. Through thoughtful design, storytelling, and collaboration, we aim to celebrate women who live, lead, build, grow, and protect what is wild — both in nature and in themselves.
This is not about perfection or performance.
It’s about belonging, connection, stewardship, strength and the long view.
We are growing slowly, intentionally, and in relationship — guided by women, grounded in place, and open to what comes next.

What began as a single shirt — and an idea that resonated — is becoming a wider space for connection, creativity, shared stories & experiences among women who feel rooted in wild places.
Over time, this vision may take many forms:

There is no rush to define every step.
The vision is to build something lasting — guided by respect for place, for women, and for the idea that growth and strength don’t have to be loud to be meaningful.
We’re letting it grow, the way wild things do.

It’s meant to be shared.
This is an open invitation to women who feel rooted in wild places — whether that’s the Adirondacks, another landscape you love, or simply a way of moving through the world with curiosity, courage, and care.
Over time, this space will grow to include stories, creative collaborations, small-batch offerings, and gatherings — shaped by women who live, lead, make, explore, and steward the places they call home.

I’m especially interested in connecting with women who feel called to collaborate their strengths in meaningful ways: guides, educators, writers, storytellers, facilitators, artists…women rooted in their own relationship with nature and place.
Over time, this may include creative partnerships, shared storytelling, small gatherings, and nature-based experiences — including the possibility of future retreats grounded in the Adirondacks, based at Adirondack Adventure Base, and shaped by the strengths of many women, not just one.
